Hi there,

I think that if you are really set against taking anti-depressants that your doctor will understand (or should, anyway) and try other types of treatments to help your D. If you don't feel anxious or depressed, this does make sense to me.
BUT I just have one thing to add that I was told by my GI doctor in England. He put me on amitryptiline (sp???) not because I was depressed, but because he said it would help my D. He said it had been shown to cause mild constipation in some people, and that it responds to a sensor in your stomach.
Personally, though, I was experiencing major anxiety at the time and I did feel that the pill helped with that more significantly.
It's worth a thought, though!
