No mushy foods. What the doctors want is a clear field of fire, so to speak, so they can spot any lumps, bumps, and irritation. That's why nothing solid - looks like a lump - and nothing red - looks like an irritated spot. I did a lot of chicken broth and ginger ale. I ate "real" chicken broth, not the FF kind, to get a few extra calories. I figured my stomach was going to be wrecked from the prep so the fat wouldn't make any difference.
Going back a few questions, I checked a whole bunch of novels out of the library in case I couldn't sleep the night before the procedure and I think the idea of renting some videos to watch afterward is a great one - something to look forward to - I wish I'd done that. I did have something non-Heather for dinner the night after the procedure - sort of slipped it in while my tummy was still in shock.
One thing I worried about that no one else has mentioned is being out of it while my bowels have turned to liquid (literally). Apparently this is a pretty common fear because one of the first things the nurse told me was that the doctor would vacuum out any remaining liquid so - and I quote - "you won't wake up in a puddle".
Beyond that, I agree with everyone else - the prep is pretty miserable, at least the one with Phospho-Soda, but the procedure itself is a non-event. Plus once you have it done, you won't have to think about it for another 5-10 years. And who knows? Maybe by then medical science will have come up with a better way.
