Hmm..I did the fasting for 2 days, and I didn't get hunger pains really, I just felt more tired and headachey. I was missing eating! It's like a social thing for me. Prep wasn't nice, but not as bad as I thought. I think the extra day of liquid diet made it better---although at one point my husband was trying to talk to me but I kept having to go to the bathroom!! I managed to get about 6 hours of sleep, which is a normal night for me. Didn't even have to wake up to go. Got there, went again just to be sure (nurse's advice---I went very little). Took off everything but socks, put the gown on, and had a blanket. they got the iv started and put on the other sensor things. my husband sat with me. Then it was time to go back. I got benadryl, demerol, and something else. I can't remember. I asked a few questions, but after the third drug was given, I was out. Next thing I knew I was in recovery. I remember nothing of the procedure. When it was over, I could hardly formulate a single sentence! I kept messing up! The funniest thing was the nurse told me I had to "toot" a few times before I went. So there my husband is sitting next to me, and she's telling me to roll around and fart. It was hilarious. I said "I think I went!" just so she'd leave me alone. Anyway, when they say the worst part is the prep, they're right. I would just tell the doctor...I DON'T want to wake up. I asked if I would feel anything, or if it would hurt. The doctor said if it hurts, we'll give you something. That worked for me! I came home and slept an hour, then we went for brunch, then drove to my in-laws cabin and I slept the whole way solid. Ate a regular dinner, slept fine, and was great the next day.
It's really not as bad as you think. I mean, not pleasant, but not the worst procedure I've ever had. (Having a lung collapse and being held down while they stuck a thick plastic tube in my ribs to re-inflate was way way worse.)
Don't worry!
