Hi Cyndy, I eat them every day, and I do have BM's every day. However, I wouldn't say they come on naturally. I have to drink lots of water to get them going, but once they start I usually have three to four within 15 to 20 minutes right now. I think this is due to the Paxil working. I'm now taking the 25 mg. dose first thing in the morning. What disturbs me is that I have to drink a bunch of water to get them going. I asked my GI doc about it last thursday when I saw him, and he said "That's just the nature of IBS, a lot of weird things happen with different patients". I suppose its good in a way. I can get through my 8 and 9 o'clock classes by not drinking much water. After that I guzzle it and get BM's. What the coffee did last sunday was to sharply decre- ase the amount of water I had to drink, and the time bet- ween BM's. That didn't happen yesterday, but I drank less and watered it down with 8 oz. of water, so it wasn't hot either.I've never tried not drinking lots of water because I'm afraid I won't have BM's, and I know when I don't go a lot I feel awful. The students have off tomorrow, so I'm thinking about trying to drink 6 to 8 oz. of hot coffee and see if it reproduces the same effect as I had last sunday. Also, about the peas, the reason I eat them all the time is because they are very high in IF, and the easiest of IF veges to chew good. I don't bother to puree them. Additionally, they're easy to cook, I just nuke frozen ones in the microwave. HTH-Bob
