I'm going to a digestive diseases clinic in a few weeks, and they asked me to bring my old records with me. I just received a copy of my records from my old GI yesterday, and I am still steaming over them!
My main complaint with the GI -- and why I quit seeing him -- was that he wasn't listening to me and that he wasn't really making any attempt to help me (he did a few major tests, but for heaven's sake he never even took a stool sample). Well, now I am POSITIVE he wasn't listening! I can't believe some of the stuff in my records. Before I go to the new clinic I am definitely going to take a highlighter to the records to show what is complete fabrication.
***WARNING -- TMI alert****
He mentioned I don't get blood or mucous in my stool -- this also is NOT true and I have mentioned this many many times because I am obviously concerned about it. I have mucous at least 50% of the time -- sometimes in disgusting big clots. When I am feeling particularly awful I get small clots of dark red blood in my stool but this has only happened probably 3 times in the past year. I do fairly frequently get stools that are black or have black stuff in them (kinda like coffee grounds); I don't know if it's old blood or not. I did have two episodes where I had a lot of bright red bleeding, but both times when I called the office they told me that during the colonoscopy they'd found I had some hemorrhoids and that's why I was bleeding. Well -- the colonoscopy specifically notes that I have NO HEMORRHOIDS, and another part in my records notes that I had one episode of GI bleeding and still nothing about hemorrhoids. What the !@#$????
There are also a few things in the test results that he never mentioned but which are noted as a "postscript" as being abnormal -- obviously they are minor abnormalities, but I have NO clue what they mean! I did a google search but got nothing, so I was wondering in anyone here could even make a guess as to what they are. Obviously I am going to ask the new GI about these, but in the meantime I am curious. I am not concerned about them, just wondering what they even mean.
endoscopy biopsy: noted "slight increase in chronic inflammatory cells in the lamina propria"
abdominal/pelvic CT scan: "small amount of free fluid in the dependant portion of the pelvis"
capsule endoscopy: "in the duodenum there is very minimal mild mucosal edema"
Gosh, it is so nice to rant and rave and know you guys know exactly what I'm feeling! Thanks for listening.
