Hi, I am normally IBS-D. I took Fibercon, but found that it gave me a stomach ache. Now I am taking metamucil, 1 serving of the wafers before breakfast and a glass of the mix before dinner. I had no cramping from the metamucil, but now for the last two weeks I have been constipated. Not dehabiliting, but nevertheless uncormfortable. This concerns me because I am taking fiber and following the diet. My diet hasn't changed too much from what it normally was because I don't like red meat and really kept a close eye on the fat content. I am sure I drink more water than anyone else in the world too... I drink enough to go to the bathroom at least every hour. I have been eating a lot of breads for snacks, but I am not sure what type of effect that will have.
Should I increase my fiber? Maybe start taking something at lunch? Or is there anything else that might be causing it? Could the metamucil be causing it? Or should I go ahead and have that double bacon cheese burger that I have been dreaming about to get things moving?
BTW, I have my first colonosciospy (sp?) comming up in the end of September. I am not nervous about the procedure, just about the steps before. I told my hubby that I was going to stay at my parents house because they have two bathrooms and we only have one!
Thanks, Olivia
