I am on disability and living in a rest/retirement home and the government allows $60 a month (yes, a little under $2 per day) for living expenses. My problem is that we have fixed menus. The alternative if we don't like something is a PB&J sandwich. We are not allowed in the kitchen so I can't get (or afford) my own food, although I plan to buy some bagles and have them toast them for me. The only place that delivers in this town is the Pizza shop.
Luckily I am pretty tolerant to most meats, but hamburger is like eating poison. I was sick every Thurs. (Wed. is pasta and meat sauce day) until my little brain figured it out. Today we had roast pork for dinner. I hope I will be okay. Most eveything on my tray is a no-no.
How do I get the manager to "GET IT"? It is so frustrating. He has been a little better since I brought a diet back from the GI's office but it was for my inflamed esophagus, not IBS.I am going to send for Heather's book and show it to him, not that it will do much to get it through his thick skull. (He's only 30 and "Mummy" owns the place)
The cooks are pretty good and now they serve me pasta with butter and garlic. I love it and being part Italian I guess I am protected against garlic.
Any way ... I guess I just needed to vent a little. Thanks for listening.
