My sister has been. That's how she finally figured out that she has IBS like the rest of the family. She thought she was having appendicitis or something, her stomach was hurting so bad. They told her she had one of the biggest gas bubbles they'd ever seen!! 
I have not been to the hospital before, but I have been curled up in the bed, rocking myself & crying from the pain.
I don't believe dairy is a trigger for me either, by the way...I've never seemed to have a problem with it. However, I haven't yet cut it completely out of my diet & stabilized yet, so it could be one that I'm not recognizing. (It could be the main culprit behind my C.) Most of my triggers are spices, and some beef dishes.
