Bromelain is awesome for inflammation, bones, joints, protein digestion/assimilation and nutrition absorption. Papayain--I spelled this wrong--but the enzymes in papaya are good for the gut too. Digestive enzymes basically help your gut get things going to process and assimilate the components of food, i.e. protease (for protein), lipase (for fat), amylase (for starches), maltose (sugars), cellulose (for cellulose/fibers), etc. I take vegetarian enzymes which do not contain gelatin/pancreatin.
