Well, it could be a number of things. The caffeine is definitely NOT good, and neither is the splenda - you'll want to avoid both of those. All artificial sweeteners are IBS triggers.
17% isn't bad for the fat content, but right at first you may need to cut back on the margarine. I know that I couldn't eat margarine at all for the first few months! Also, be sure to check the ingredients on the margarine you're using, and make sure there's no dairy in it.
I really doubt it was the rice milk, unless you drank your smoothie super-cold... I find that I can't do cold drinks first thing in the morning.
I'd really guess that it's the splenda, though. Any time I take in ANY artificial sweetener, even splenda, I just feel like I'm going to die. They're probably the worst GI tract triggers, after dairy and red meat.
