Personally, I still have my gallbladder, despite all my problems with it (stones upon stones), so I can't speak from personal experience. Although, my doctor wants me to have scans and tests on it this summer, and I will most likely end up having it out... he thinks a lot of my IBS symptoms are because of the gallbladder. Of course, you do run the risk of having D afterwards, but I'd still have it done. It's one of those d*mned if you do, d*mned if you don't kinds of things.
Anyway, I got a little off-track there. What I was going to say is that I've known quite a few people who've had their gallbladders out and didn't have D afterwards. They weren't IBS'ers, so I don't know if that counts, but I thought I'd mention it anyway.
If I were in your shoes, I'd give the surgery serious thought - and I'd also check into alternatives, like Kandee mentioned. To my way of thinking, D is more manageable than C. I know there's a drug they can give you to help you with gallbladder-related D, but darned if I can remember what it's called.
Wow, I wasn't much help there, was I? Aren't you glad I answered? Hehe.
