Irritable Bowel Syndrome Message Boards

I had a Hida Scan done which showed I have gallbladder Dyskinisia (slow emptying gallbladder). Which means, my gallbladder is not releasing bile to help start the digestion. Symptoms are constipation and bloating, which I have.

I had a consultation with a surgeon who is willing to take the Gallbladder out. However, my GI does not want me to have it out because he fears a lifetime of diarrhea, which can be a result.

I have held out on this for about 7 months now. But I am so darn constipated, that right now I am just wanting this organ out of my body!! But I don't want to cause permanent problems that are not reversible.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Has anyone had their gallbladders out either pre or post IBS symptoms? Did it make your symptoms worse or not really effect you? Do you experience Diarrhea now that you didn't have before the surgery?

Did anyone develop IBS because of the surgery?
