It seems that SFS's are the hardest part of the IBS diet to understand! I've searched and searched for my answer and can't find it, so hopefully noone minds yet ANOTHER post on SFS's.

I've been on benefiber for over a week now but can't seem to work out whether its making me better or worse because I suffer chronic bloat and gas. I started off with 1/2 tsp for a few days, then 1 tsp for a few days, then I jumped to 1 tbsp for a few days, now I'm trying 2 tbsp a day.

I still have chronic bloat and gas, but my BMs seemed to have improved slightly. If I've increased the dose too quickly, and I stay on a dose that's too high for me, will my body learn to cope with the amount I'm taking? Assuming benefiber is good for me but I'm taking too much too soon, will any symptoms it might be causing disappear within a few days? Its so hard to tell when I have chronic bloat with and without the SFS. Yet I don't want to be making the bloat worse by taking too much too soon...

Urrghh, how do people know when an SFS is good for them! It seems to be one of lifes greatest mysteries for me!
