Hey there - Real licorice (which is an herb, and used in candies extensively in Europe, especially Scandinavia, but oddly quite rare in candies in the US) is a laxative. So you want to avoid any black licorice (the real thing is never red) that actually says "licorice" in the ingredients. Otherwise, enjoy! (And fyi, most US black licorice is often flavored with anise, which is fab for IBS) The red is just fine too.
