Hi Abby! If they suspect you have it (or you can probably ask) they'll give you a gastoscopy where they stick a tube down your throat (under anasthetic of course) and check the little hairs in you oesophegus (sp?). If they're lying flat then you have it but if they're all standing up you don't. I don't know if you smoke or not but you have to stop before the test cause this also makes the hairs lie flat. It's not painful at all and really no big deal. I've had it done and they're doing it again in a week. If you want to know anything else about it feel free to ask.

I can't help with counsellors, ours tend to be appointed through a government agency and I don't know how it works in the US but I can understand your feelings about being miserable all the time and how that affects you and your family.
