I feel ya Ruchie! I've been there a couple of times this past month. I journal my foods at Fitday.com and am completely honest about it. Whenever I feel like eating everything in site, I go back and look at those days where I stuffed myself and remembered how horrible I felt for days after.
To stop the binge, these are 'tricks' that have worked for me:
Go out and buy a really nice water bottle. Keep it filled all day. The water will keep you full, and will also be a constant reminder of your intentions.
Get away from the food. Leave the house, go outside. If you know you'll be hungry later, pack a small lunch. Don't eat what you haven't portioned out for yourself.
Paint your nails. Wet nails can't reach into cereal boxes (or whatever your noshing on).
Brush your teeth. Remember drinking OJ after brushing? Ew!
S-L-O-W D-O-W-N. When you're noshing, carefully look at each morsel in your hand and think about your tummy. You're probably not hungry, right? Are you bored? Restless? Anxious? Think about how that food (or at least a LOT of that food) will affect your tummy, and consequently, the rest of your day and possibly tomorrow.
After doing one or all of those for a day, I can usually get right back on track. Over-eating is my biggest culprit for upsetting my tummy.
If you're truly feeling hungry and your tummy isn't in pain, then just go ahead and eat until you're full. I know that I've restricted myself in the past, and the binges are sometimes a reaction to the constant thought and effort that I have to put into food some days. Your body may be telling you something.
Last, but not least, make sure you're eating IBS-safe foods only and are over-eating on healthy foods. Nothing worse like the crash and burn that happens when you eat a whole this-bag-was-meant-to-be-shared sized bag of Skittles (one of my faves).
Treat your body good! It's the only one you're gonna get (at least in this lifetime)
