Yeah you're *totally* right about the creative outlet for managing stress... I used to write so often (fiction, poetry etc.) and I have this insane longing to get back to that - and I just know a relaxing activity like that would be good for my IBS.
I also love yoga and I try to get that in plus some medititation (which helps soooo much! -- actually probably very similar to your 'watching the flame') as much as I can (when I have time, sigh). I've wanted to try the hypnosis tapes for a while since so many people on these boards have said how well they work, but I really can't afford them right now. Did you do them?
In general, this testing out of meds for me is a last resort. I hate medications usually, but I'm feeling lately like I could use a 'helping hand' with managing my IBS. I don't know if it's going to work or not or if I will find something that will help me at all - there are such mixed reviews, works for some ppl not for others - but I do know that I don't realy want to be on anything long term if I can help it.
Thank you for your advice! Seriously, I don't know if people tell you this often enough, but you're incredible! IBS is enough to get me right down sometimes, I can't even imagine having fibro ON TOP of it.
Cheers, Laurel.
