not trying to be rude........ but the question was "what artificial sweetner can you handle", and stevia is not an artificial sweetner. It is a natural sweetner, not synthetic or another chemical altering such as malitol, sorbitol, splenda, etc. So that is why stevia is okay for you and should be okay for most people with IBS.
I have bad attacks from any artificial sweetner. So I instead use stevia and it is great. It is not so great for baking, but in tea or oatmeal, etc. it works really well, but it does give foods an "artificial" sweet taste, not a sugar taste.
