Yikes!, Yeah that might have been too much at once for your poor tummy to handle.. I've experimented here & there to see what i can handle for "unsafe" foods, I find that I can usually handle a burger and fries once in a while as long as I've been good the past couple of days, and I can handle a nice steak too with Caesar salad even, though I get a bit of gas from the salad, one thing I DO notice though is Italian food will almost certainly make me feel ill.. And it is usually tomato sauces that are the culprit! If i have pasta with a non tomato-based sauce, I'm fine...
I try & keep a diary of food I've had when i get an attack ( use to keep a diary of everything i ate, but took way too much time & was impossible to sort out & analyse). The diary of possible trigger foods can help you narrow down what might be the actual triggers.
Other weird things I've noticed: * yogurt makes me ill, but a small amount of ice-cream (brier's all-natural) is fine. * Alfredo sauce in small amounts id fine, but again tomato based sauces are not * pizza of any sort seems to kill me :P but a pizza made on pita bread with a pesto or oil/herb base is fine, even with a small amount of cheese & meats. (Note: we have a place called Salvatore's here that makes 'authentic' Italian pizzas with a tomato/herb-base that is not really a sauce, and i can eat a slice or two of that fine...) * broiled or bb-q fish works, but fried does not (and not including batter, just fried in pan). Not sure why this is..
Anyway, I know, blabbing on, hope some of this helps? does anyone else have weird food preparations that do/do not work?
I've really found it hard to give up the foods/driks I used to live on... Coffee, Fast-Food, etc.. but I'm actually starting to feal "healthier", even with the pain/unhappiness of IBS...
