It's really important that you're finally getting to see a good doc - you should NEVER have been diagnosed with IBS without any tests. That's malpractice. Since your symptoms have existed since childhood, and especially if you've never had red flag symptoms (fever, joint pain, swelling), you may actually be diagnosed with blood work and no invasive tests.
