I have never tried any of the powder SFS, I only use the caps because they are easier and I can carry them in my purse in a little bottle to work and meetings. I think it is okay that you drink the cup of water with your SFS, it is much better than taking no SFS at all, in my opinion.
Drinking the tea right after the meal, seems to really calm my stomach, but I am IBS- D, it may be different for C- people. And I don't usually drink it directly after a meal, sometimes I wait about 15 minutes, after I do the dishes or cleanup. I always like to do some activity after I eat, because sitting down is when most of my pain seems to come.
