Hi, I'm so glad you brought up this problem, because I have a similar problem. I talked to my GI doc and he said...yeah...that's a problem. Great! (He had a doc friend who had to stop and go to the bathroom in the middle of running marathons. That's all fine and good, but there are porta-potties along a marathon route...there aren't any on the prairie path, along trails, or even running on the streets in my neighborhood!)
I really have my IBS under control most of the time...EXCEPT when I run several miles. In fact, I usually have IBS C, until I run...and then it's D! (I even went to a colo-rectal specialist who checked out my sphincter muscle to see if it was not as tight as it should be, and he said it was fine.)
I'll be very interested to hear if anyone else has any answers. I never thought about taking Immodium...I might try that and see if it helps.
