In school last week, my prof asked everyone who took vitamin C and how much. people answered with 1000, or 500 mg. He told us that we only need 60 mg daily (I have to double check that number, it is in my notes). Eating sources of vitamin C should be enough to get this, he metnioned eating four servings of fruits and vegetables combined a day. Your body does not store vitamin C, though, so you do need to eat foods that contain it everyday. I have been drinking V8 also and eating fruits and some other veggies, so I personally don't see a need to take a vitamin, especially cause they are so expensive. I would rather eat right and healthy than take pills any day.
I don't beat myself up, either, if I can't get all my protein/ vitamin C, etc in one day, cause i atleast realize I HAVE to be healthier than when I ate frech fries as veggies, cheesburgers for protein, and applie pie was my fruit.
To sum things up, if you have a balanced diet, maybe you could skip the vitamins until you are married and settled in and have the money? Just a thought.
