Wow, I just found this Web site, and ran out and bought Heather's book the same day. I showed it to my mom (who does not have IBS) because the diet is conducive to anyone who wants to eat more healthy. She bought the book also!!

I have IBS-C (or at least the docs are on their way to making that diagnosis). Last week I had a barium x-ray that came out normal, and had some blood work done, but haven't gotten the results back.

I suffer from incredibly painful and annoying bloating (and gas that doesn't go anywhere) whenever I eat anything. I was put on a restrictive/elimination diet by my doc, and am now completely confused because some of the 'forbidden' foods on my list are included in Heather's diet. But, I'm only on this for two weeks, and maybe I'll find out I'm allergic to something.

Has anyone ever tried Bentonite? I was recommended that by a nutritionist as treatment for constipation. Any feedback on that would be helpful.

I've tried Zelnorm but that gave my severe and immediate diarrhea and that just wouldn't gel with my full-time job.

I'm also on Levsid, and that seems to be easing some of the cramping in my gut.

I'm SO happy that I found the fennel tea suggestion! I'm drinking that like it's going out of style and I'm starting to feel better. Is it possible to do any harm by drinking too much?

I'm also taking Primal Defense, a probiotic. I've been on that for two months, and my BMs are become more regular, and not so hard to pass. One more month on the higher dosage (12 tabs/day) and we'll see how that's worked for me.

I'm 25 yo and at a normal weight (5'6", 135) and lead an otherwise healthy lifestyle. I'm fanatic about foods (I drive my family crazy with new, organic meat alternative finds), and eat healthful most of the time. I do Pilates and take care of myself. I'm really looking forward to trying out Heather's recipes to make my life more bearable. I've missed out on a lot of things because I was in too much pain, too bloated to feel beautiful and too irritated with life because I'm only 25 and have to deal with this horrible syndrome.

I hope that everyone here is learning more about IBS and how to manage it so that we can all lead productive and healthy lives. I'm not going to let this hold me back, and I feel so positive after reading that I'm not the only person who goes through this.

I'm fortunate enough to have found a man that is supportive of my condition, and we work our way through this by using a lot of humor (he high-fives me whenever I have a BM), support and patience. I just wish that everyone was to be so lucky.

Thanks for reading,
julie
