I'd say it's the beans. When I'm not taking a soluble fiber supplement, I can't really handle beans unless it's a small amount of mushed stuff such as hummus(and then I can only have a couple tablespoons). Now that I take a SFS, I can handle beans much better. I'd say hold off on trying beans again till you get on a fiber supplement. Then maybe try some at a time, to see what you can handle.
As far as which to try, I think everyone reacts differently, so it's really which ever one you feel like trying first. Citrocel made me worse, Benefiber was ok but didn't really seem to help much. But for a lot of people here, those 2 help a lot. Personally I take Metamucil.
