I work at the University of California San Francisco. I also hire and fire - you know, when I have no other choice but to fire. Here you began a job with a 6 month probation whether it is a lateral move or not and no one cares how long you have worked for UCSF. Within that 6 month timeframe, the manager has the option to let you go if so desired. I am not sayng these things to scare you but to face reality. A lot of people might not agree with me, but I would just be honest from the beginning. It pays off big in the end. good luck!
