Hey all!
Here's my (well, his) story ... B/f has some serious pains in his upper stomach area, gas, bloating. He saw a GI and had some unpronouncable procedure where they essentially stuck a camera down his throat. No ulcers or damage to the esophagus; I think some irritation to the lining of his stomach or something. The GI gave him a prescription, told him to take it for a 6 mos or a year, then come back and see him.
I was under the impression that the doc had found something like a bacterial infection or viral something or other, and didn't pay attention to the presciption (it was still mom's job at the time). So he's been taking this stuff since March and it hasn't done a thing. I looked yesterday and it's Aciphex and remembered seeing something about it here. Checked out the website and it says its for heartburn or acid-reflux disease. B/f doesn't have heartburn AT ALL. The other symptoms of acid-reflux are the same as his, like nausea and gas, but zero heartburn. Is it possible to have it w/out heartburn?
I keep thinking he's got pain-predominant IBS, with stress as the major trigger. The GI didn't give him any advice about changing his diet or to come see him if the stuff wasn't working. Just wait 6mos ... Any advice or ideas?
Thanks everyone!
