You csn always kind of sugar coat the explanation a little. Nobody likes to say "bowel," but if you say that you have been having some tummy trouble lately (I'd seriously say "tummy"), and that it's uncomfortable enough that you and your doctor are trying to find a way to deal with it, and that you are confident that you'll be able to manage your symptoms, then that might be a good way to do it. You want to make a big enough deal out of it so that the boss doesn't think you are exaggerating a little tummy ache, but you also don't want the boss to worry that you'll be so dibilitated that you won't be able to work. You should tell him that you are already improving and that you're not likely to get any worse, so he's already seen the worst of it and it won't affect your job performance. I'm sorry my sentences are coming out all messed up -- I just did the hypnotherapy cd and I'm kind of in a fog. Good luck and feel better, Amanda
