First off, I'm with you on not taking the antibiotics... not just because of the side effects, but because you don't need them. Your body is perfectly capable of recovering from a stomach virus (if that's what it is) on its own. I have NEVER had antibiotics for a virus, and it drives me CRAZY that doctors throw antibiotics at people for every little thing. Argh!! (Ok, I'm done ranting now... LOL!)
I doubt it was food poisoning. Food poisoning is pretty unmistakable, says she who's had it too many times. Usually the D (and vomitting, if you get it) is basically uncontrollable. I don't know if you tried taking imodium or pepto bismol or anything like that, but if you did and it worked, it probably wasn't food poisoning.
It could have been a virus. It could also have been a completely random attack, which can happen, unfortunately. If it's been a long time since you've had one, it's definitely going to seem more painful than you remembered - now that I've gotten my attacks to be so few and far between, I notice the same thing on bad days, that I feel 100 times worse than I remembered. You get used to feeling better, I think, and the "bad" is such a shock all over again. ![](/messageboards/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif)
Anyway... I don't know if this was even remotely helpful, but regardless, I hope you feel better *really* soon!
