It's good for lots of different things. I happen to take it for my fibromyalgia sleep disorder but it definitely helps my IBS-D also. Don't think of it as an antidepressant, think of it as something like aspirin that can work on headaches, bad backs, fevers, preventing strokes and all kinds of different things. And your poor overworked doctor is just wrong about the acacia and hasn't read the latest research. Don't worry about, it's a common problem! Everything else he said sounds right on target.
