Lots of soluble fibre supplements are marketed as bulk laxatives because they help constipation, but they are also used to treat diarrhea. Plain Normacol is just a soluble fibre supplement. As for the celevac, I think the chemist may have been confusing cellulose and methylcellulose - cellulose is insoluble but methylcellulose is soluble, there's a post from Heather about this here - http://www.helpforibs.com/messageboards/ubbthreads/showthreaded.php?Cat=&Board=diet&Number=1704&page=&view=&sb=5&o=&vc=1.
