Okay, so I understand the basics: Carbonate for d, Citrate for c, and maybe a Calcium/magnesium 2:1 ratio for either, right? Well, here's my question: I was taking Caltrate which is Calcium carbonate(600mg) and I'm a little IBS-A lately so I wanted to switch to something that wouldn't increase c. But, the cal/mag 2:1 that I got from the health food store is calcium citrate plus magnesium. I was afraid to try it b/c I thought that might be a double whammy for d. So instead I took Citrical which has no magnesium but is calcium citrate (400 mg tonight so we'll see what happens in the morning). Are you following? lol

Anyhow, question 1, is there a calcium CARBONATE out there with magnesium? Question 2, which would make me "go" more...calcium citrate OR calcium carbonate with magnesium (if there is one)? Would calcium citrate with mag be too strong for an IBS-d/a person? My diet, supplements, etc. seems to keep me regular with a lean toward c (but I've been d sometimes lately due to stress)...oh...who know what the heck I am! Question 3, will calcium take effect pretty immediately or does it need to be in your system for a couple of days to show a difference with your bms? (ie., I have been taking carbonate the night before a stressful morning with the hopes of warding off d). Okay, sorry this was such a confusing post. I hope someone can make sense of it. Thank YOU!!
