Gas Pain in side and back

I have a question on a fairly recent symptom I have been experiencing. I have been an IBS sufferer since I was a child. I managed to get it under control when I lost weight, exercised and started a boring job. I am
know back in the fast track with my firm, infrequently exercising, and have gained 30 pounds in three years.

I have looked and looked and have not found anything regarding my symptom on the internet.

Off and on (typically once a month for a couple of days) I have horrible back pains. It typically starts on my right side and migrates to my back. It is relieved with a BM, but getting to that point sometimes takes 24 hours. It was so bad last week that I missed work, and phoned my doctor. He says it is just gas and bloating and is now (for whatever
reason) migrating to my back instead of my abdomen. I still have some pain in my abdomen when this is occurring, but not as much anymore. He recommended the usual barium tests, but I did those years ago with no results and they were horrible. I am female, 44 and had a partial
hysterectomy in 1991 - is this just an aging process where things have shifted? Have you heard of the back pains before? I'm not too concerned about it being serious, but my Dr. prescribed Librax, which I used to take years ago. I don't want to have to take medication if possible. I tried drinking Benefiber for a couple weeks - two
tablespoons a day - it was making the pains worse so I stopped.

Any input would be much appreciated.
