The short version is that I was feeling horrible- could hardly eat anything for a couple of weeks, no appetite, pain, D, and could not even "stomach" the two glasses per day of citrucel I have been on for 5 years. I tried to resume the fiber by taking only a third of a dose one time per day. After a few days, I suddenly felt horrible, everything ran through me, could not eat, and it took 2-3 days for me to feel better. I am now experiencing the IBS colon spasms I almost forgot about.
I am afraid to go any longer without the fiber b/c of the pain and constipation that will result with all of the carbs I am eating, but I have learned that this is what happens when I take too much citrucel. I feel like I am starting from scratch.
Suggestions? I am thinking about taking a 1/2 t every other day b/c when I increase every day a few days into it it builds up and I feel horrible. I hope that if I start out this slow, it will spare me the setback I had. I am completely depressed that I am taking such huge steps backwards. Before this incident, I was trying to INCREASE my daily dosage, now I feel like it will take a couple of months to just get back to where I was and I will have pain in the meantime. Maybe as the weeks go by and my tummy stabilizes I will be able to increase at a faster rate.
Also drinking peppermint tea, pepp caps, and will try heat.
I would really appreciate ANY suggestions.
