Problems with GI Doc...long

I've had IBS for at least the past 18 years. Never had testing done until recently but was officially diagnosed through symptoms by my regular doctor about 4 years ago. I had alternating C and D, with bloating and gas. A year and a half ago I changed my diet and pretty much eliminated the C and D, but still suffer with the bloating and gas. I finally went to a GI doc at the end of August. He was very encouraging at the time and told me he didn't think I needed medication on a daily basis, to just keep doing what I was doing. He ran some blood work and stool samples. He said if that all came back okay, to just continue as I was and to see him again in a few months. He did prescribe Levsin to take on an as needed basis. My test results came back showing blood in my stool, so the doctor wanted me to have a colonoscopy. My other tests came back normal. I went for the colonoscopy last week. Got the results on Monday. His assistant called to tell me that the colonoscopy was normal and he wants me to take Librax 3x a day. She said my symptoms were due to the IBS. I asked her about the blood in my stool and she said that was from the IBS, which I know is not a symptom of IBS. I asked her if I could talk to the doctor about this and the Librax. I just wanted to know why he now wants me to take Librax 3x a day, when he prescribed Levsin as needed a month ago. She said she would leave him a message. 4 days later, I've gone back and forth with her several times, telling me I can't speak directly with the doctor unless I make an appointment. She finally told me I could choose not to take the medication and just live with my symptoms, which I thought was rather rude. It's not that I'm against medication, I just want to understand what made him change his prescription. And I still haven't gotten an answer to the blood in my stool. Finally yesterday I asked her to send me a copy of all my test results and am planning to take them to another doctor. Am I overreacting or is this a strange way to deal with a patient with questions?
