Hi Pedro,
Thanks for writing back. Yes everyone is different, so it's very much a personal trial and error thing. But the redundant colon makes it that much harder to move things through! I tend to get stopped up for a week at a time, so I understand how uncomfortable it is.
I do believe the diet works, though. I just think it takes a while to stabilize and you really have to be strict with the diet/water/exercise/portion combination. I used to eat low carb, meats, cheeses, tons of fruits and veggies, salads (which I totally miss!), but I also used to go to bed every night bloated with severe gas pains. This has almost disappeared since switching to the soluble fiber diet 4 months ago. I am still not regular and still trying to find an SFS which works for me. I just bought Benefiber and started today with 1/2 tsp. I will take this amount for a week and then keeping upping it by 1/2 tsp. every week until I'm up to 2-4 tbsps., depending on when I stabilize. I'll let you know how it goes..
I haven't tried the medicines you're taking, but I am weary of taking too many meds. Miralax gave me more gas. Zelnorm worked for a while, but now it doesn't so I stopped taking it. I'm also trying the smaller meals & snacks 5 times a day. I think I've been eating too much in one sitting!
I just wish they could operate on my colon and take the loops out! Wouldn't that be much easier?
