Hi all. I've been thinking about trying yoga. I'm stressed out and well...just need to find something to help. Yoga seems to be what everyone is raving over but I'm just not motivated to try. I took a class in high school (20 yrs. ago)and fell asleep. I went once with my DH last summer and well, my back hurt..my neck hurt. I know I have back and neck probs due to my stress but trying yoga knowing that it'll be uncomfortable and maybe a little boring for me, it's hard to make myself go. I know it sounds really dumb. I have a membership to the Y so my classes are "free" but I keep thinking if I can just get my butt to the gym I should really be doing cardio.
I dunno, I guess as I read this post over it sounds kind of like yoga is just what I need....if I'm concerned about being bored, it's probably because I haven't a clue on how to relax enough to enjoy.
Any thoughts?

Aerobic exercise probably helps with stress and IBS just as much as yoga does. My advice is simply to go to the gym and do some cardio. I have done yoga before, and by the end felt like falling asleep too.. so don't worry if yoga isn't your thing.
There's a difference between relaxing and being bored. I feel relaxed when I'm running around playing soccer. Some feel the stretching and concentration in yoga helps to relax.
Have you tried any cardio classes at your gym? Kat

Thanks. Nope. My DH and I will play about 1/2 raquetball and then do about 30 min. on the treadmill. But I get bored with the treadmill too sometimes. I think I just have to get back in the swing of things. I've been feeling yucky and the kids have been sick on and off so I've been out of my normal routine. Guess I just have to get my butt back to the gym already!
