Has anyone made Heather's Tangy Thai Salad with the TVP? I've made it two times (first time I thought I must have done something wrong) and both times it has come out the consistency of chowder. I don't see how I can serve it on cabbage leaves. It tastes okay, but lordy what a mess! I get my TVP from the bulk section at Fred Meyer. Could it be the wrong kind or something? It's a powder.
If I add more powder without adding more boiling water, can I possibly save tonight's dinner?

This is the kind that I use...does it look anything like this or is yours really a "powder"?

The powder I use is not lumpy at all.
So you use the Red Mill and you don't have the chowder problem? That must be the ticket!

Maybe with this powdered kind, it only needs 1 c. boiling water. I drained it in a sieve (all that lime juice gone!) and it looks more like it could be mistaken for ground chicken or shrimp. I'll make a notation in my book.

The kind I use looks a lot like that, too. I get it in bulk and it's kind of like little chunks... definitely not a powder. It sounds like that's the problem!
