I've never used cornstarch before--but I know you can use flour as a thickener. Will that work for Heather's Butternut Squash Fettucine? Thanks guys!

It should...I'm not exactly sure if you'll need to use a bit more flour, though. And you might want to cook the sauce a little longer after you add the flour, so you don't have a "floury" taste. You could also use arrowroot powder if you can find it (same quantity as cornstarch).

Ruchie - I've never used flour to thicken because it'll lump under certain circumstances. Corn starch works great for me and it NEVER lumps. And, there's no taste from it as far as I can tell. My Mom never used flour to thicken and thus I don't either.
Just my 2 cents worth.

Yeah, flour will lump if you're not careful. I thin it with liquid to make a slurry first, then I add that gradually to the simmering liquid in the pan and STIR constantly! That helps a lot.
For some reason I thought Ruchie was in Australia, and I think earlier posters in Oz couldn't find cornstarch.

Heather - Ruchie's in NJ, my home state, near Cherry Hill I think. I think that's one reason we get on so well (and she's Jewish like me, too)!! Now there's three of us on the boards. Anybody else out there Jewish???????

Heather and Sharon,
I'm SO SORRY for the confusion! I never posted where I'm from...I actually asked Sharon about NJ trying to find out about Cherry Hill. (My husband and I are planning on moving soon). For now I'm the east coast...again, sorry for the confusion! And, thanks for the responses!!
