I was wondering if anyone had tried using the Tofutti cream cheese or sour cream in recipes that call for cream cheese? I was hungry for a cheesecake or cream cream cheese brownies or something like that but I was wondering if anyone has tried using those in baking and what it turned out like. Thanks!!

I tried buying the cream cheese as a dip for veggies, but it tastes like... well, basically like blended tofu, in my opinion. Not like cream cheese at all.

Thanks so much for your response because that's what I was afraid of. I hate to go through the trouble for it not to taste very good. I'll have to try Heather's cheesecake. Thanks again!

I tried the Tofutti sour cream once. It tasted like paste.

I like the Tofutti "Better Than Sour Cream". I use it on my baked potato occasionally and it is to die for in Little Minnie's Chicken Paprikash:
Recipe
The one time I tried a soy cream cheese (don't remember the brand) it was awful. And I've tried other soy sour creams that tasted pretty bad.

I have used the chives & herb flavoured Tofutti cream cheese substitute when making a vegetarian lasagne recently, and it was quite yummy. I used it in place of ricotta or cottage cheese. I have not tried eating it straight.

That's a good idea too! I wonder how that would taste in a traditional lasagne instead of the ricotta cheese. I generally substitute tofu for it instead. It's not bad but I'm always looking for something better. Thanks for the idea!
