I found this on the web does it have to much "if" in it and can I cut the oil in half and use broth? thanks Pasta Salad 2 cups pasta, cooked & cooled 2 ripe tomatoes, chopped 1 green onion, sliced thin (omit if needed) 1/2 zuchunnie, chopped 1/4 shred carrot 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 cup vegetable oil (HELP!!!) 1/3 cup ketchup 1/4 cup vinegar 1 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon pepper 1 teaspoon paprika Directions: Mix together the sugar, oil, ketchup, vinegar, salt, pepper & paprika. It turns out better using a mixer rather than trying to mix by hand. Pour the dressing over the pasta and veggies, and stir.

Sheila, I have to say that neither oil or broth sounds particularly good to me! I would try some other things instead, like:
- fat-free mayo/salad dressing
- any vegan ranch dressing recipe or bottled vegan dressing
- plain soy yogurt (mixed w/ranch dressing seasoning packet, or an italian dressing seasoning packet, you can just use half if you think it's too much spice for your belly)
- plain fat-free dairy yogurt (ditto)
- If you're really sold on oil(eta=straight up oil I mean) than I would use Newman's oil and vinegar dressing, it's very mild and tasty on lots of things! or a bottled Italian dressing that you know you can tolerate.
I would not like the sugar/ketchup or vinegar in pasta salad - the IF would be okay for me if I used either sauteed onion or raw green onion - maybe some raw mushrooms to give you some added SF. Sorry to put a damper on your dressing, it just doesn't sound very good to me - let me know what you think

I've never tried it but here's a way to substitute thickened water for oil:
web page
You also might be able to just cut the oil without subbing anything for it. It sounds like you're making what is basically a fake French dressing. Interesting.
I don't think this has too much IF - it's just the tomatoes and the green onion. The zucchini and carrot are SF.
HTH.

Are there any salad dressing you can eat?THis recipe sounds similar to a cold pasta salad I've made and I use either italian dressing or a balsamic vinegrette flavour, let it sit overnight and it's soooooo yummy. You could add any veggies you like to it.

Well, the way I think of it is that probably no vegetable or fruit is all SF or all IF. Carrots are on Heather's SF list so I figure they're mostly SF. They're probably easier to digest cooked - everything is - but I've always done okay with raw carrots (and raw potatoes for that matter).
You say in another post there's a French dressing you can eat and since this recipe seems to be basically making a fake French dressing maybe you can try yours on it.

I do the same thing. I use FF zesty italian in mine. It's very flavorful - DH loves it too - and it doesn't bother me.
