We usually make jasmine rice but I am going to make my husband eat brown rice once a week or so. My rice cooker does most rice 1 c to 1 1/2c water. Does the brown rice need 1c to 2c water or what is the ratio? Does anyone know please?

i know this is late, but my rice cooker calls for an extra 3/4 c of water when making brown rice. doesn't matter how much rice you're using, just add the extra water.

Thanks but that is so vague. For one cup of rice it would be 1 1/2 cups plus 3/4c, is that right? It takes 40 minutes to cook on stovetop which prevented my making it the other day. Micro time was similar.

That's exactly right. If it were 2 cups of rice, it would be 2.5 cups water plus 3/4 cup water.
