Anyone have ideas about a substitute for mayo? How about for tzatziki sauce?
Thx.

Lorna -
I have actually read on here that Low Fat Mayo is ok and I have had it and it seems to work for me.
Everyone is different though - so maybe this won't work for you.
But I am sure I read that here somewhere.

Do you know if it is safe for someone who is lactose intolerant? What the heck is in mayo anyway? I'm just too afraid to try it again...

Fat free mayo is better. I have tried tofu mayo, interesting. I think you can also get egg free canola mayo. Haven't tried it though.

I have Hellman's at home - I can check tonight and let you know or if someone happens to be at home maybe they can help you sooner.
Or maybe the Recipe Goddess or Heather would know.

Thank you! That explains the reactions to Kraft fat-free mayo with the cream and egg yolk. I am lactose intolerant and I have IBS attacks with egg yolks! Guess that brand is out!
I've never heard of the other one, but I'll check around!

I don't even find a difference in the taste.
And my husband likes it too.

I think Hellman's is the East Coast variation of Best Foods on the West Coast. Looked up Hellman's Website and this is what it said...
Hellmann'sŪ is known as Best FoodsŪ west of the Rockies

Nasoya Nayonaise (vitasoy product)! It's a fat free mayo. made the company Nasoya--and it's soy based! Ingredients: Silken Tofu (water, organic soybeans, lemon juice concentrate), cane juice (dried), corn starch, distilled vinegar, salt, xanthan gum, mustard seed, onion powder, garlic juice, natural flavor, spices, non GMO. I think I recall it upset my tummy (vinegar seems to be a big no-no for me), but if the ingredients sound good to you, go for it! Hope this helps!

I tried this a few years back, and...well...let's just say it did not quite pass the taste test. Hopefully they've changed their formula (the version I had was not fat free). I was really hopeful about this product, but dang, one taste sent me running back to Best Foods Fat Free.

I am not a big fan of Mayo. But the low fat Miracle Whip was good for me. But, the beauty if IBS is that each of us are different.
