Last night I tried to make the Home-Dried Sweet and Chewy Banana Chips from the IBS Cookbook. I followed the directions, which are as simple as you can get, but the bananas remained soft and wouldn't dry. I left them in the oven for almost 4 hours before I gave up. Should I have left them in longer? The recipe just says to bake for "several hours." Is there a trick to this I don't know about?

I tried it in a dehydrator with poor results. So I gave up. I know they are only supposed to be chewy not crispy like the fried ones at the store.

Mine were disgusting! I can't figure out that recipe. I think I will stick to just a plain old banana!
