Here's a few smoothie recipes I thought I'd share. I find a lot of nice recipes, including smoothies, on recipezaar.com. I also have noticed that some members of these IBS boards also post or use recipezaar. I actually use Heather's site and Recipezaar.com as my two recipe resources.
The Orange Creamsicle (Vegan/Non-Dairy Smoothie) posted on recipezaar.com by What's Cooking? I've tried this recipe twice, both times subbing for the rice milk b/c I didn't have that. Unsweetened plain almond milk (Blue Diamond brand) and unsweetened soy milk (Silk brand) both taste great in this, I think.
Makes 2 servings
1 cup orange juice, not from concentrate 1 cup rice milk, fortified (plain or vanilla) 1 banana 1/2 tsp vanilla
1. Combine ingredients in blender. 2. Blend until frothy. 3. Serve immediately.
Here's on of my recipes I made up one day. Therefore, I call it The "Sommer" Smoothie.
Makes 2-3 servings
1 1/2 cups unsweetened soy milk (Silk brand is my fave) 1 large banana 3/4-1 cup frozen unsweetened strawberries 3/4-1 cup frozen unsweetened raspberries, blueberries, and blackberries 2 1/2 tbsp Hershey's chocolate syrup (dairy-free) 1/4 tsp vanilla extract 1/4 cup pineapple chunks 1/4 cup reserved pineapple juice
1. Place all ingredients in blender and blend until smoothie consistency. (I also add 1 scoop of Citrucel Clear mix to this.)
Another great standby smoothie I make consists of Silk unsweetened soy milk, a carton of Silk Live! soy yogurt (plain or flavored), frozen, unsweetened strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries, a bit of vanilla, a banana, and a bit of honey, and then a scoop of Citrucel Clear mix. I don't really measure anything, but just dump the stuff into the blender until it looks right and tastes right. The only thing I truly measure is the one container of yogurt and usually a medium-large banana, and the scoop of Citrucel Clear mix.
Hope all of you enjoy your summer and stay cool and comfortable!
