I tend to always cook the same things: Baked chicken with plums, ginger and soy Mexican Chicken Or Honey Mustard Chicken
I really want to increase my repertoire...what do you cook when entertaining non-IBS, food loving friends or family for special occasions?
Thanks

Honestly, my standby is pretty boring - in my family, major get-togethers always meant a big traditional dinner, so in the cooler months, I do a roasted chicken or turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, vegetables, salad - stuff like that.
In warmer weather, I tend to do some simple grilled things - depending on how many people we're expecting, we usually grill both chicken and steak, so there's a choice for everyone. Then I make either pasta or potato salad, fruit salad, and usually a three-bean salad or baked beans. If I'm feeling like I really want to work, I make tabbouleh (Lebanese bulgur-wheat and herb salad) and hummus with pita chips instead.
Basically, I pretty much cook what's safe for myself, and everyone else eats it. So far, there have been no complaints. I also keep things simple with the seasonings, since none of us really like the same things. Again, no complaints so far.

The recipes you use look wonderful, Sinead. I might have to expand my repetoire a little, too. Here's what I cook for company:
Bev's Crockpot Bourbon Breast of Chicken over non-egg noodles, of course - this is my answer to almost every question about recipes: favorite, company, make ahead, alcoholic ...
Shell's Turkey Meatloaf - Even people who look at it funny when I tell them what I'm serving really like this. I cut back on the garlic a little. I serve it with Skinny Mashed Potatoes.
Barbara's Spaghetti Sauce has been a favorite company dish for over 30 years.
The pizza from the EFI cookbook with chicken, barbecue sauce, and scallions goes over well, also. Here I can buy Pillsbury refrigerator tube pizza dough which is IBS-safe and saves a lot of work.
For a cold supper or a lunch, I serve RachelT's Almond Chicken Salad.
I haven't tried them on a lot of people, but my brother just loves the Simple Sweet Cornbread from EFI and Kree's Peking Burgers, although not at the same time.
HTH.

My mom and even my grandmother have been using the cuisinart to chop everything for the tabbouleh for years. It's yummy, but it's not worth working your (green tipped?) fingers to the bone! I always hated picking the parsely off the stems (still necessary even if you use the cuisinart) and it was ALWAYS my job. Thankfully I have an Irish SIL who doesn't know from tabbouleh and gets stuck with that job now!!!

A small roasted turkey or chicken with mashed potatoes, cooked carrots, peas, gravy (fat free of course) and a side salad.
In Canada, you can buy a bone-in double turkey breast (both sides) and then you get the great roast turkey taste without all the dark meat and the work.
I've become stubborn in my old age, that IBS safe food is perfectly acceptable to anyone who sits at my table and if they don't like it, TOUGH!!!! So there. I refuse to go out of my way to make something I can't eat.

I do use the food processor for all my chopping. I just meant that it's still a little more time-consuming than a simple potato salad - especially the way Adam and his family like their potato salad, where the potatoes are mashed coarsely instead of chopped. Yeah, picking the parsley off the stems is what takes forever, and I usually don't have anyone else to pawn the job off on.

Couldn't have said it better myself. If ya don't like it, there's a pub down the street that serves greasy bar food - knock yourself out! LOL
