I made Kree's Crockpot Chicken Stew, and I used a large bag of prechopped frozen vegetables instead of the stuff called for. Now that I'm eating it (and it is fabulous, by the way), I have discovered some small round veggies that look like eyeballs. I thought maybe they were small onions, but they don't taste like them -- they are squishy and relatively tasteless other than a bit of an odd bitterish sweet taste. I hate the texture so I've been avoiding them. But now I am wondering what the heck they are. I thought the bag just said potatoes, onions, carrots, and celery. And I've identified the onions -- they are normal chopped squares, not freaky bulbous things.
So what the heck IS this veggie??? I can't find the digital camera otherwise I'd take a picture and post it. I am baffled.

I suggested parsnip and turnip because I thought they were possibly cut from them...is there a brand name on this mix? An ingrediants list? Perhaps they have a website.
Is it like a root veggie?

LOL. My grandmother makes a delicious scalloped onion recipe using pearl onions! Maybe they were just weird from being cooked so long in the crockpot??

My husband actually ate some (and loved it!) a few hours after I posted this. The first thing he said when he walked into the room with the bowl was, "Ooh! It has pearl onions!"
OK. I guess I know now that I will NEVER EAT PEARL ONIONS.
Thanks guys
