I have been buying lite chicken broth or from trader joes because chicken broth in most cans contain MSG - I also can not believe how many products do contain MSG - what a shock now that I am reading labels!!!!!!!!!!

I took a chicken and tossed it in my crockpot, covered it with water, put an onion and some seasonings in there (I would have put some carrots and such but I didn't have any) and cooked it on low overnight.
I deboned the chicken...yielded 5 cups of chicken meat and about 12 cups of broth. I froze the broth in 3 cup portions. Whenever I need any, I just pop it in the microwave. Easy as pie.

Campbell's low sodium broth is safe- no MSG. But no other store bought broths are safe that I have seen. Even "natural" veggie broth contains HFCS.

"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!

I use Pacific Foods Free Range Chicken Broth - no MSG. I find it at Whole Foods and at King's Supermarket (a local chain). Whole Foods also makes their own "Whole Foods 365 Organic" Organic Chicken Broth which is also MSG-free. I bought a container but haven't tried it yet.
And, yes, MSG does seem to be in an astonishing array of products. I particularly hate it when it's not called MSG, but is hidden in one of the other names for MSG.

Wow! I didn't realize that they snuck it in so many other things. Thanks for sharing this info... all this time I've been looking for just monosodium glutamate in the ingredients.

I finally realized some ingredients were MSG in sheep's clothing when I kept eating Near East brand rice dishes and having IBS attacks even though none of the ingredients looked dangerous. I tracked down the ones I didn't recognize and - surprise - one of them was an MSG alias.
This list (may duplicate Betharoo's) is another part of the TruthInLabeling site Kree posted:

I got this from a post by Waverider on the Diet Board. I can never remember the site name, but I can always find Waverider's post easily just by searching for: bastards msg
It's always nice to have a unique keyword in your posts.
