I just got ground turkey breast at the store and a packet of taco seasoning. Cooked it just like hamburger.....
Wrapped in flour tortilla with shredded soy cheddar, soy sour cream (Tofui Better Then Sour Cream). We had enchilada sauce on the side for that little extra kick!! Hubby had small amount of vegetarian refried beans with soy cheddar on top.
TASTED JUST LIKE HAMBURGER!!
Followed by a slice of peppermint fudge cake with no glaze that I made last night (do a search to see my comments on that)

That sounds yummy and a quick recipe with a lot of taste. I am going to do that. My husband would not touch the Toffuti sour cream or soy cheese, but he could replace that with dairy instead and still eat everything else. I am going to add guacamole! It is lunch time and this sounds yummy. What taco seeasoning did you use b/c I have found that a lot of them have whey or lactose. I think you can buy it in bulk at the health food store and I am sure it would just be simply spices.

Ya know... I did not even look at the package (bad Shell)... I think it was el paso (sp?) brand. Hubby does not like sour cream at all so I knew not to put that on there. But as for the soy cheese.... he had NO CLUE! He did not even know it was turkey

If you want to make your own, here is a recipe I've used:
Top Secret Recipes version of Lawry's Taco Spices and Seasonings adapted from http://www.topsecretrecipes.com/recipes/lwrytaco.htm (but it's no longer there)
1 tablespoon flour 1 teaspoon chili powder 1 teaspoon paprika 3/4 teaspoon minced onion 1/2 teaspoon cumin 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder 1/4 teaspoon sugar 1/8 teaspoon ground oregano
Combine all of the ingredients in a small bowl. Use 2 tablespoons plus 1/3 cup water per 1/2 pound ground meat.

The first time I did this, I didn't tell hubby. I wanted to see if he noticed. After he was done, I asked him how his tacos were. He said they were good, then I told him I used turkey meat. Then he said oh I could tell a difference. I know he really didn't, as my husband adds onions, hot sauce, lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese to his. I now make them with turkey meat and he likes it.
