I can't tolerate dairy products--that was true for years before I had full-fledged IBS symptoms. But apparently I can tolerate small amounts of goat cheese--it has been a real treat. I've been buying 4-ounce packages of spreadable goat cheese in flavors like "garlic and herb" from Wild Oats for about $2.50 and spreading it on saltines, with extra plain saltines in between.

Nope, not necessarily. Feta cheese can be made from cows' or other animals' milk; and goats' milk can be made into different kinds of cheese, even things as normal as Cheddar. But the little packages of spreadable, tangy, cream-cheese-style goat cheese are just labeled "goats' milk cheese." So I don't know what else to call it.

I think the name for the spreadable goat cheese is Chevre. I agree that sometimes I can tolerate cheese that is not made with cow's milk.
